The Old Keilor Hotel
Galway Arms Bistro

In 1849 James Mitchell built a new Hotel in Keilor, it was built using local Bluestone for the exterior walls, all the internal dividing walls were made from clay bricks, the clay was dug from the banks of the salt water creek and the slate roof came out from Wales as ballast in the sailing ships James came from Galway in Ireland so it was no surprise that he called it the Galway Arms. The previous Hotel on the site was called the Keilor Hotel and after several owners again reverted to the Keilor Hotel but we like to remember our past so the name continues as our tavern/bistro.
